Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Harbour Lights, South Carolina, 2 Bedroom Combined has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
