Tips to get the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your group decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. T1811 at the Myrtle Beach Resort: Spectacular Coastal Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
Additional considerations:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
