Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Holiday Sands 2BR
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
