Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Start by having your family agree to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Lovely One Bedroom Condo Across the Street From Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
