Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Pet Friendly, golf cart, 2 minute walk to the beach with ocean in sight has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Tips for your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
