How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Myrtle Beach Resort A0128 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
