Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
