Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Perfect Myrtle Beach Vacation has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
