Vacation rental tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- Book your Myrtle Beach rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the best vacation home:
- Start by having your family select trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Newly Updated! Ocean View Double Queen Suite! Perfect for 4 Guests! Sea Mist 50710 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
