Strategies to get the very best rental home experience:
Get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. ???? Oceanfront 4BR Condo w\/ Stunning Beach Views ???? has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If not, email the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
