Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Choosing the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Lure of the Sea's MH89B Ocean Lakes has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your agreement.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
