Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and picking your Myrtle Beach vacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. PET-FRIENDLY, GOLF CART PROVIDED, LINENS INCLUDED IN PRICE FROM MAY 18-SEPT.6 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
