Tips and Tricks to get the best rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking your prefectrental:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean Lakes - Site 1803 Pet-friendly! Enjoy outdoor seating area w\/ firepit & TV has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
