Tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean View- 8th Floor-Two Kings & Two Queens + 3 Baths! Great Rates! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
