Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Ocean View King Suite at Oceanfront Resort + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
