Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. One Bedroom Suite at The Landmark Resort Unit 347 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
