Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your family agree to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Availability late Summer and Fall. Beautiful 19th floor oceanfront condo. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
