Getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick the bestrental home:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Regency Towers 1602 -Pool & Hot Tub Year-Round has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
