Our top Vacation rental home tips:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the rightrental:
- First, have your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Sea Cloud - Across From Ocean - Pet Friendly has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
