Tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Seaside Serenity: Partial Ocean View Room 1st Flr has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your group.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
Advice for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
