Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sky-High Luxury 20th Floor: Oceanfront 2 Bedroom has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
