Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best vacation home:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. T208 at The Myrtle Beach Resort: Studio Condo with Beautiful Ocean View has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
