Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by having your group decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. The Beachwalk Cottage has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
