Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by having your group commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Top Sail Jewel - Steps From Ocean - Garage has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
