Rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Tranquil two-bedroom villa near the beach at Sheraton Broadway Resort Villas has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
