Getting the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Two Bedroom Two Bath at Oceanfront Resort + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you crave, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
