Our top Myrtle Beach rental booking tips:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the rightvacation home:

  • Start by having your family decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Palm & Gem
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
