About:

Osprey photographers and bird watchers alike, we are going to get you up close and personal for some great pictures/viewing of these family-oriented birds in their natural habitat. The Osprey return here every year in March to mate, rebuild their nests, have and raise their young and migrate South by late August. There are many active Osprey nests along the beautiful and natural region of the untouched Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge. It is a photographer and wildlife lover’s dream, whether you are a bird watcher or a amateur/professional photographer. It is a joy and trial to try to capture the perfect shot of the Osprey catching its prey, feeding their young or carrying materials to build their nests. Of course, other wildlife just might cross our path along the way so have your cameras or binoculars ready!

What you may see:

• Osprey hunting and fishing on the river. Some flying or in trees with large fish in their talons.
• Baby osprey in the nest learning to fly and hunt for food.
• Majestic osprey swooping by the boat.
• The natural nesting habitat of osprey.

Space is limited to 15 passengers to allow everyone to move about more freely to take pictures (monopods only please). In addition, the Captain will maneuver the boat for the best shots/views to allow all sides to have great photo/viewing opportunities. Check the schedule for dates and times and book early!

• Make sure to bring your camera as you never know what you may capture!
• Bring your binoculars (not required to see wildlife)
• Beverages and snacks are available for purchase in the Gift Shop and these purchased items may be taken on the boat.
• NOTE: Personal coolers and personal drink/food are not allowed on the boat. Only exception is for babies. Parents may bring on a small baby bag with items the baby may need like juice or bottle.
