Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best rental:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. 11th-floor ocean-view studio with WiFi, AC, pool & hot tub - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
