How to find the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. 11th-Floor, Oceanfront, Snowbird-Friendly Studio w\/ AC, Pool\/Hot Tub, WiFi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
