Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 11th-floor, oceanfront snowbird-friendly studio w/ WiFi, pool/hot tub, AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you love, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
