Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing the rightrental:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Ocean Breeze Retreat NEW Freshly Remodeled has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
