Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to select the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your group agree to the best dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 14th floor, high level studio with views! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
