Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 17th-floor ocean-view studio with pool, hot tub, AC & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you crave, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
