Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Ocean Forest Villas Unit C108 - Oceanfront has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
