Tricks and tips to get the very best rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Waterfront, Large deck, Pet friendly, Golf cart. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
