Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
Sticking to a budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 2 Mi to Ocean: Myrtle Beach Condo w/ Balcony has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
