Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Finding the best rental home:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 20th Floor Oceanfront Studio, King Bed has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
