Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Book your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 20th Floor Oceanfront Studio, King Bed has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
