Vacation rental booking tips:
Find your best deal:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 2BR 2BA OCEAN VIEW IN THE SEAWATCH RESORT GREAT AMENITIES has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. text the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
