Vacation rental tips:
When to go & When to book:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your group decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 3 Bedroom Oceanfront Condo w\/ Direct View + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If not, email the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
