Booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 3rd Floor Oceanfront Snowbird Friendly Studio w\/ Pool\/Hot Tub, AC, WiFi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
