Vacation rental home tips:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4th-floor ocean-view studio with pool, hot tub, WiFi & AC - snowbirds OK has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
