Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 5th-floor studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
