Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by having your group select vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 6th-floor ocean-view condo with WiFi, AC, pool & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
