Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect vacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 7th-floor studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
