Our top Rental booking tips:
Find your best deal:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting and booking your prefectrental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront home on 8th Floor w/AC, WiFi, shared pool/hot tub - snowbird friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
