Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the best rental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. A151 at The Myrtle Beach Resort: Relaxing Ocean Breeze Retreat has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
