Getting the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.

- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
