Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Choose vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Angle Oceanfront Suite w\/ View + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
