Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beach House at Oceanside Village with A View of the Ocean has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
